Dear Maree, we got back from our honeymoon yesterday, and are feeling tremendously relaxed and happy! Our wedding was wonderful and exhilarating! When we drove to Pokolbin through torrential rain on Friday we knew there would be a few last minute changes. During the day more news kept trickling (or flooding?) in – by the time we were told that a 40, 000 tonne bulk carrier was stranded on Nobbys Beach we knew that “a few” had changed to “many”. It’s funny – we had spent quite a few fun hours choosing the wedding song, designing and printing the order of ceremony cards, working out where we would hold the ceremony, how I would walk down to the rotunda (I didn’t realise swimming would be a possibility) – and absolutely all of it was washed (ha!) away.

The cards were forgotten, one of the guests picked us up in his 4WD and told us on the way where the ceremony would be, and I think the rain and wind was louder than the song! It was a great night. I kept being told by people that the night would go by in a blur, but for me it was and still is wonderfully clear, every moment. Seeing Nig standing beautiful and strong on the verandah, our vows, my brother’s reading (“Now you will feel no more rain…” ), you declaring us husband and wife – I remember the feel and smell of it like yesterday. The rest of the night was also a lot of fun – very touching speeches, and a party that roared into the early morning. The dance floor was packed for hours and guests were walking outside with steam rising from their shirts and skin.

Maree, thank you for all your assistance and support in the months before the wedding. Without your guidance we would have felt unsure about what we wanted from our ceremony, let alone how to do it. Your wedding pack, and especially the inclusion of beautifully worded ceremony suggestions encouraged Nig and myself to find the words that described us, our life, our relationship and our aspirations. It was truly wonderful to stand before our family and friends and exchange vows filled with words that meant a great deal to us. We appreciate how easy you made the legal process for us, and how creative you encouraged us to be with our ceremony.

As you no doubt realised, the day for Nig was quite stressful. While I was away getting my hair done and trying to relax with a glass of wine in front of a fireplace, Nig was organising the set-up of the reception room and many other details that a sunny day would have avoided! Thankfully he had some very good mates around to help him. He also wants to pass on his thanks to you for your willingness to simply be there where requested. You being relaxed and affable in that situation made a big difference to the day and how he was feeling. Many thanks again for all your help – you helped make our wedding a beautiful, beautiful day.
